All-Star Pom Dance Classes in Tulsa, OK

Pom is a style built on precision. Sharp arm motions, crisp formations, synchronized choreography, and team-first energy define the discipline. Elite Dance of Tulsa is home to one of the most accomplished competitive All-Star Pom programs in Oklahoma, and our pom training prepares dancers for the highest levels of team competition.

What All-Star Pom Is

Pom evolved from collegiate sideline dance into a competitive performance style that emphasizes clean technique, athleticism, and total team unity. Modern All-Star Pom routines feature jazz technique, leaps, turns, kicks, formations, and tightly synchronized choreography performed to high-energy music — usually with the iconic pom poms in hand for at least part of the routine.

What sets pom apart is the level of precision it demands. In jazz or contemporary, individual interpretation is part of the art. In pom, sixteen dancers need to look like one. Every angle, every count, every hit. That precision is what makes a great pom routine electric to watch.

What Students Learn in Pom

Our Elite All-Star Pom Program

Elite Dance of Tulsa is proud to field one of the strongest All-Star Pom programs in the region. Our pom team competes at major regional and national events and consistently brings home top placements across multiple divisions and age groups.

The program is led by an experienced coaching staff: Grace Stockton, Ashley Rubey, Katelyn Mendez, and Emerson Bidnick. Each brings background in high-level pom and competitive dance, and together they shape a program known for clean technique, sharp choreography, and disciplined team culture.

Age Groups and Team Levels

Mini Pom (Younger Dancers)

Our youngest pom dancers learn the foundational motions, formations, and team mindset that pom is built on. Music is age-appropriate and the energy is fun.

Junior and Senior Pom

Older dancers progress into competition-level training with longer routines, more complex choreography, and the technical demands of competitive pom. These teams represent Elite Dance of Tulsa at events across Oklahoma and beyond.

Why Pom Crosses Over Well

Many of our pom dancers are also strong in jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. The technical foundation from those styles makes pom dancers cleaner, and the precision discipline of pom makes them sharper in everything else. The crossover also benefits dancers who plan to try out for high school or college dance and pom teams — Elite-trained pom dancers consistently earn spots on competitive school programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need previous dance experience to try out for pom?

Some experience helps. Most successful pom dancers have at least a year or two of dance training, often in jazz. Younger dancers can start through our mini program and grow into the competitive team over time.

How is All-Star Pom different from high school pom or cheer?

All-Star Pom is purely performance-based and competition-driven, governed by event-specific rules and scoring. High school pom and cheer often include sideline cheering, stunting, and game-day performance, which All-Star Pom does not. The technique and culture overlap significantly, though.

What is the time commitment for pom?

Competition pom requires consistent attendance, weekly rehearsals, supporting technique classes, and competition weekends throughout the season. The commitment is real, and so are the results.
